Mid week Check-inFrom the Stewardship Team Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with Sara Miller. Who is Sara? She is a new member of the parish council, and I was thrilled to hear that she is interested in stewardship. We will be working together in the upcoming months, making sure that the stewardship at St. Anne's continues throughout the year. During our conversation, Sara used the word “resources”. That really rang a bell for me. Stewardship is essentially the management of our resources. They have been categorized as the four pillars of St. Anne's, on which we need to focus. Last month the subject of wellness was explored. We all recognize that wellness does not “just happen”. As we age, we need to work at our physical wellness above all else. If we don’t look after (manage) our resource of bodily wellness, then we will soon be seeking the care provided by the medical profession. Most of us have sought the services of these dedicated people at one time or another to help though our medical issues, many associated with aging. Please offer up a special prayer of thanks for the work these people do.
The other aspects of wellness, namely, mind and spirit, still need to be addressed in our daily living. Maybe we should think of wellness as being a clear globe containing the ‘wellness package’. This might be contained in a bigger globe containing the other pillars of stewardship: time, talent, and treasure. This allow us to see how the various parts interact to become one body. Can you see what is in your wellness globe? Respectfully, David Batchelor

Meet our new VST studentChris Clark Beginning May 1, we will welcome VST student Chris Clark who will be doing his field placement with us through to the end of August. Chris will be offering a summer program on the Mystics, so watch this space to learn more about that. I know that you will join me in making him feel welcome. But first, a little bit about him: Chris Clark is a joint Master of Divinity and Master of Arts (Theological Studies) student at the Vancouver School of Theology with a deep love for ancient wisdom, Celtic spirituality, and the sacred mischief of the Holy Spirit. With over two decades in the nonprofit world—working in harm reduction, mental health, and community care—Chris brings a heart for justice and a knack for finding God in the messy, beautiful, everyday places. A contemplative by nature and a preacher by calling, Chris is passionate about creating spaces where people can show up as their whole, unfiltered selves. The mission: to "rewild" the church. |
